Revised Route Schedule - Effective February 1, 2010

New revised route schedules are now available on-line. The new schedules will be effective February 1, 2010. Along with time adjustments on various route, the following major changes have been made:
Route 15: Route 15 will now stay in Warrenton. The route will have stops at the SDS office and the new neighborhood near by; and them return to Ensign ave. (Costco and Home Depot): Hwy 101 to Perkins Rd. - Main St. where the route will continue as before.
Route 202: Route 202 is a new route that will travel on Hwy. 202 as far as Labiske Rd. and return. This route will be twice daily, Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Sunset Empire Transportation District Board Meetings

Sunset Empire Transportation's monthly board meeting takes place the 4th Thursday of every month* at 9:00 am at the Astoria Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive, Astoria, OR 97103 The meeting is open to the public. *Occasionally a meeting may be cancelled or rescheduled due to conflicting schedules.

Winter Coat Drive
Thanks to your generous contribution of gently used coats, the bus was able to collect 500 coats! The drive was such a great success that we will continue to collect coats this winter. Please bring your clean gently used coats to the Astoria Transit Center and we will distribute them to local area agencies. Click here to see some pictures taken during the drive

2009 Festival of Trees Event
"The Bus" participated in the 12th annual Providence Seaside Hospital Foundation St. Nicholas Festival of Trees this year. The Stars'N'Stripes Forever Tree sold for a bid of $500. The couple who purchased the tree then donated it to the Seaside American Legion, where it is currently on display. Our employees decorated the tree with help by many local businesses. Change to Board of Commissioners Meeting location

The Sunset Empire Transportation District Board of Commissioners will hold a regular board meeting on Wednesday, Oct 28th at 2:00 pm at the Seaside Civic & Convention Center, in the Sea Mist Room located at 415 First Avenue, Seaside, OR. 97138. Changes to Fixed Routes - Effective September 1, 2009

The revised route schedules are now available on the website. Significant changes are 1/2 hour service during peak hours on routes 10, 12, and 15, earlier service start on route 20, route 21 will not being going to Manzanita on Sunday's and route 12 stop on Hanover and Marine will now be at 4th and Olney. Time adjustments have been made to the route 30 and 101 schedules also. Go to the navigation bar at the top of any webpage and click on "Route Information/Route Schedules and Maps" to access the route(s) you are interested in.

Google Transit makes trip planning easier

Sunset Empire Transportation District is now on Google Transit Planner! By entering a start and end destination, and the time to arrive, you can get a schedule of the routes and times needed to travel to your intended destination. The Google Transit Planner form has been put on this page for your convenience.

Proposed Changes to fixed routes Schedules

Route 10 (click here to see changes)

  1. Route 10 will be changing to a 30 minute service at peak hours.
  2. Starting at 5:40am at the Transit Center and going until 8:40am and then again at 3:40pm until 6:40pm.
  3. Also this route will have a stop at Merts Campus between Emerald Heights and Job Corp.

Route 12 (click here to see changes)

  1. Route 12 will be changing to a 30 minute service at peak hours
  2. Starting at 6:00am at the Transit Center and going until 9:00am and then again at 3:00am and going until 6:00pm
  3. No change in the route itself. Just in the times.

Route 15 (click here to see changes)

  1. Route 15 will be changing to a 30 minute service at peak hours.
  2. Starting at 6:06am at the Warrenton Mini Mart and going until 8:45am and then again at 3:45pm and going until 6:45pm
  3. No change in the route itself. Just in the times.

Route 20

  1. Route 20 has changes in the time the last run out of Cannon Beach will be, 6:46pm.
  2. No changes in the Route itself. Just in the times.

Route 21

  1. Will no longer go to Manzanita on Sunday's.

  1. Route 30 has changes in the times throughout the schedule.

Route 101

  1. Route 101 has no changes at this time.

College Stops (07/01/09)
Until further notice, Routes 10, 12, 30 and 101 stop at the college will be on 16th and Lexington due to construction and street work.

Changes at the Astoria Transit Center
Effective immediately, the Route 30 and Westport Shuttle buses will stop at the 9th street shelter, they will not come into the Transit Center circle.

Effective July 1, 2009 Westport Shuttle
Effective July 1, 2009, the Westport Shuttle PM (2:45 pm) route will meet the Columbia County Rider Bus in Westport on Monday through Friday.

College Stops
Until further notice, Routes 10, 12, 30 and 101 stop at the college will be on 16th and Jerome due to construction and street work.

College Shuttle Route Discontinued
The College Shuttle route will be discontinued as of Monday, June 15, 2009.

Fort Clatsop - Frog Route
Beginning June 1, 2009 the Fort Clatsop (Frog) route begins. This route will run 7 days a week until approximately Labor Day in September. The route will run from Fred Meyer's to Fort Clatsop, to the Trailhead at Sunset Beach, to Fort Stevens and back to Fred Meyer. The route starts at approximately 10:00 am and stops at 6:00 pm. Click on the "Route Information" link at the top of this page and choose the Frog route link to read the schedule.

Fixed Route Changes - 6/1/2009
Beginning June 1, 2009 routes 10, 12, 15, 20, 30 & 101 are revised. Click on the "Route Information" link at the top of this page and choose the route you are interested in.

Fixed Route Changes - 6/1/2009
Beginning June 1, 2009 the following routes will be revised. Please read the outline below. If you would like a PDF copy of this notice, click here.

Route 10



Route 10 will leave the Transit Center at 40 minutes after the hour. This is a 7 minute change to the route.

Route 12

  1. Route 12 will leave the Transit Center at 24 minutes after the hour. This is a 6 minute change to the route.
  2. Route 12 will no longer go to Handover and Marine on the way back from Miles Crossing, it will turn at 5th and the stop will be at 5th and Olney.

Route 15



Route 15 will leave the Transit Center at 29 minutes after the hour. This is a 18 minute change to the route.

Route 20
  1. Route 20 will leave the Seaside Cinema at 25 minutes after the hour. This is a 13 minute change to the route.
  2. The meeting place for the Tillamook Bus will be at Tolovana Wayside instead of Brailier Street. 3. Route 20 will no longer go down Ave Beach to Ave U in Seaside it will be going down South Downing Street.

Route 30



Route 30 will leave the Transit Center at 14 minutes after the hour. This will not change but some of the stops along the route will change.

Route 101
  1. Route 101 will leave the Transit at 24 minutes after the hour. This will be a 20 minute change.
  2. Route 101 will continue to Hwy 101 & 12th street then goes to Wahanna, instead of turning at the Creekside Restaurant and going to Wahanna.

Route time changes effective June 1st 2009

Effective June 1st 2009 route schedule time will be revised. Routes 10, 12, 15, 20, 30 and 101 will be time adjusted to make connections between routes easier to make. There will be some minor physical changes of the 20 and 101 routes. Check back often to see whats happening.

April 25, 2009 was the annual 50's Cruise Reunion and Sunset Empire Transportation District was a major sponsor this year. Some of our employees were asked to pick their favorite. The Bus is hosting several upcoming events!

  1. Tuesday, April 7th 10:00-3:00 - Eggstravaganza. Join us at the Astoria Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive, and on the buses to meet The Easter Bunny! The Easter Bunny will be handing out candy and accepting donations for Eggs stuffed with prizes, including bus tickets and the a chance to win a monthly bus pass. All donations are for the American Cancer Society 2009 Relay For Life Fundraiser
  2. April 13th – June 30th - Drive Away Cancer Wishing Well. Donations accepted for the American Cancer Society 2009 Relay For Life Fundraiser at the Astoria Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive. For each donation, we will hang a sun in our window with a name of your choosing.
  3. April 13th – June 30th - Skunk Them! A container disguised as a skunk will be hopping on buses and wandering through the SETD offices. Want it to leave? Want to skunk a different bus? Every penny counts - send it away by feeding it a donation!
  4. Friday, May 1st – 20st – Coloring Contest. Enter Sunset Empire Transportation’s Coloring Contest. Entries available on buses and at Astoria Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive. There will be two categories open to ages 4-7 and 8-11. Deadline is 12:00 on Thursday, May 20. Winners will be announced on Thursday, May 21st at 12:00, at the Astoria Transit Center.
  5. Thursday, May 21st 11:00-2:00 - Recycle Event and Relay For Life Fundraiser. Join us at the Astoria Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive, for an afternoon of education and fun. Do you really know what can and can’t be recycled? Come learn with Darol Funk from Western Oregon Waste! He will give educational presentations at 11:00 and 1:00. Presentations last approximately 30-45 minutes. Other activities include games for prizes including Fish For A Cure, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society 2009 Relay For Life. Winners will also be announced from the May Coloring Contest.

Coming Events

The Bus is involved in a number of events in April and May. Meet the Easter Bunny (April 7th), Drive away Cancer Wishing Well and Skunk Them, (April 13th - June 30th), Coloring contest (May 1st - 20th) and the Recycle Event/ Relay for Life Fundraiser (May 21st). Airport Service Route

The Bus is now making service available to the Astoria Regional Airport (AST). Route 12 will divert off route to drop or pick-up people at the airport. Seaport Air has three flights a day to Portland @ 6:30 am, 10:25am and 6:00 pm. Bus service to the airport will be on a as needed basis only. See the new Airport Route schedule for more information.

Monthly Commissioner Meeting Time Change

The Board of Commissioner monthly meeting time has been changed to 10:00 am. The meeting will continue to be held on the fourth (4) Tuesday of each month as before.

Can for a Ride Christmas Food Drive

The 2008 Can for a Ride Christmas Food drive was a great success again this year. Over 2000 pounds of canned food were collected and donated to the local food banks. Thank you for your continued support of this worthwhile Christmas project. Pictures were submitted and have been added to a new webpage, click here to see the pictures

We want to know from you, our riders, your experiences on the bus. Your stories can be anything from how the bus helped you get out during our recent winter blast to how it helps you get to school, work or to the grocery store or doctor's office on a regular basis. We want pictures too!
